Who are we?
Refs, short for French-speaking Residents and Expatriates in Sydney, is a non-profit community group dedicated to bringing together French speakers who are settling in Sydney for the medium to long term through affordable social events.
Now an essential part of Sydney's French-speaking community, this group was founded 5 years ago by 3 friends who shared a simple observation: as expatriates, it's challenging to build lasting connections.
Today boasting 2000 Facebook members and managed since 2023 by 5 passionate volunteers, Refs organizes themed monthly aperitifs at different venues each time. Our program includes entertainment like trivia nights, music quizzes, and brain teasers, plus competitions, workshops, annual celebrations like our Bastille Day aperitif, sporting olympics, mölkky and pétanque tournaments... all united by the community spirit that brings us together.
